Augie and the Green Knight is a children’s book about a precocious, adventurous, and risk-taking young girl and her adventures with the Green Knight. It contains beautiful artwork by artist Boulet, and is written by Zach Weinersmith. More info about the book can be found here and Ryan spoke with Zach about the book on the show which you can listen to here.

  1. Hiya amig@s,

Love the podcasts, all of them.

I was catching up and listening to the tails of dinosaurs episode, plus a later reprise, and wanted to mention that the latest Paleocast (Ryan you’ve been on it (?)) Albertan dinosaurs with complete tails.episode, http://www.palaeocast.com/episode-39-dinosaurs-of-alberta/

They even have a beer brewed with yeast from fossils….

So lots of love from the sub tropical vallies of Bolivia, I was thinking of sending you some wine brewed from coca leaves, but I’m a touch worried that the US customs might not be too amused. So send the wine to Ben?

Also quinoa,, the Andian grain. Yes very wholesome and high protein, however, I’m a little worried that the sudden very high price has resulted in local farmers opening up vast new areas for fields. I’ve been working in the south of Potosí for the last 6 years and have seen a tremedous boom in quinoa production, the area is semi desert with very light soil, held down by slow growing shrubs which are ripped out to plant new fields in inappropriate places. The worry is that they will end up with dust bowl conditions for 5 years of loads of money. LOM is 1000 $US a hectacre which if you plant 100 hectacres is more money than your parents earnt all their lives. A new form of mining. By the by, the different colours are basically the same, quinoa is a semi domesticated crop with lots of wild varieties, Locally the highest valued is the golden coloured, but each year a different colour gets a higher price,it depends on the demand and production.

    all the best

    R
